Gemma was very committed in testing but changeable weather put her down in 13th in timed practice. Once into the heats though she came through from 8th to 2nd and then 17th to 7th.

Disaster struck in her third heat when she was through to 14th from the back of the grid after a first corner incident left her with a damaged steering column. It was declared a false start so she was able to continue but repairing the damage was against the rules so she nursed the kart home to 12th.

In the final she came home in 7th which gave her 9th in the championship in her first season in Junior Max.
