Jake’s older brother qualified fifth, fastest in his group, but suffered a spectacular engine failure during the session. In his first heat he was second behind championship favourite Michael Simpson but in the second heat he missed a yellow flag and was disqualified. He then had to come through the B Final, which he won from Grid 4, and found out his power valve was falling out. Then from the back of the A Final grid he came round in 8th after the first lap and went on to finish 7th, boosting him up to 13th in the championship.

Reigning Junior Max Chammpion Sam qualified 3rd, fastest in his group and three solid heats put him second on the grid for the A Final. He dropped down to 5th at the start then lost another place to 6th, but then perked up and came back to 4th. A 2nd looked likely but he lost concentration on the last lap and stayed in 4th.
